TMWS provides two types of gateway deployment: virtual gateway and on-premises gateway. You can add and manage them based on the product license you have.

These gateways can be used in policy configuration and log query to monitor and analyze users' web activities. You can modify and delete gateways on the TMWS management console.

Note:

For the Standard license, a maximum of 50 on-premises gateways is supported. To deploy more on-premises gateways in your organization, purchase an Advanced license, or you can purchase an add-on license to upgrade your service to the Advanced (Standard plus add-on) license.

  1. Go to Gateways .
  2. View gateway information.

    Gateway Name

    Name assigned by the administrator

    Note:

    indicates an on-premises gateway.

    indicates a virtual gateway.

    Gateway Type

    Type of a TMWS gateway. Options:

    • virtual

    • on-premises

    Description

    (Optional) Meaningful description to easily identify the gateway

    Status

    The status can be any of the following:

    • Virtual gateway

      • Pending: A newly created gateway, with no configured IP address verified by TMWS.

      • Partially Verified: A gateway with some configured IP addresses verified by TMWS and the other ones pending for verification.

      • Verified: A gateway with all the configured IP addresses verified by TMWS.

    • On-premises gateway

      • Online: The on-premises gateway has successfully registered to the TMWS management console and exchanged data with the TMWS cloud.

      • Offline: The on-premises gateway has lost its connection with the TMWS cloud.

      • Unregistered: The on-premises gateway is manually unregistered from the TMWS management console.

    IP Address

    • For a virtual gateway: One or several public IP addresses of your organization's Internet gateways to redirect web traffic.

    • For an on-premises gateway: IP address of the gateway configured during gateway installation.

    User Authentication

    The method that TMWS uses to authenticate users initiating HTTP requests. For more information, see User Authentications for Internet Gateway Traffic. Options include:

    • None: No authentication is required.

    • Captive portal: Redirects HTTP traffic to an TMWS web page, where users provide their logon credentials to start the authentication process.

    • Transparent authentication: Authenticates users belonging to an Active Directory domain recognized by TMWS. For more information, see Transparent Authentication.

    Last Communication Time

    Last time when the TMWS cloud communicated with the on-premises gateway for keepalive check. If there is no communication for five minutes, the status of the on-premises gateway changes to Offline.

    Action

    Action that an administrator can perform:

    • : Click to unregister an on-premises gateway.

    • : Click to upgrade an on-premises gateway.

      This icon only displays when a new version is available.

    • : Click to view the warning messages and download the installation package.

    • : Click to delete the gateway from the list.

      Note:

      An on-premises gateway must be unregistered before it can be deleted from the list.
  3. Manage gateways.

    Add a gateway

    Edit a gateway

    Click the name of the gateway to edit, and on the page that appears, modify the gateway information as necessary. For details, see Editing A Virtual Gateway and Editing An On-Premises Gateway.

    Unregister an on-premises gateway

    Click under Action corresponding to the gateway you want to unregister.

    Upgrade an on-premises gateway

    		 Use any of the following ways:

    • If there is an upgrade version available, a message appears on the upper left area of the Dashboard screen. Click the message to go to the Gateways screen.

    • If the available version number of an on-premises gateway is greater than its current version number, the icon appears under Action.

      Click . The status changes to Upgrading.

      Note:

      If the on-premises gateway crashes after the new version is applied, it automatically rolls back to the previous version.

    • Click the name of the on-premises gateway and go to Upgrade Management.

    Delete a gateway

    Click under Action corresponding to the gateway that you want to delete.

    Note:

    After a gateway is deleted, it automatically becomes invalid in the corresponding cloud access rules, HTTPS decryption rules, and reports.

    Sort the gateway information

    Sort the information in ascending or descending order in either of the following ways:

    • Click the title area of a column.

    • Click the up or down arrow at the right of the title area of a column.

    Refresh the gateway information

    Click Refresh on the Gateways screen to view the latest information about the gateways.

    Search for a gateway

    Type a keyword or part of the keyword related to either column in the table in the Search text box.

    Note:

    If there are many entries in the table, you can type some characters in the Search text box to narrow down the entries. As you type, the entries that match the characters you typed are displayed immediately. TMWS searches all cells in the table for matches.
