After attempting to upgrade endpoints using the Endpoint Encryption Deployment Tool, some endpoints may be unable to upgrade. After attempting to upgrade, the Full Disk Encryption Status may change to "Non-management agent deployment".

Resolution

This issue typically occurs on endpoints that had been installed without using the Endpoint Encryption Deployment Tool, but now are being managed by the Endpoint Encryption Deployment Tool. In some environments, users installed Endpoint Encryption first, and later added OfficeScan. The connection to the Full Disk Encryption agent is not the same in these environments as environments that installed the Full Disk Encryption agent using the Endpoint Encryption Deployment Tool.

This procedure forces upgrades on Full Disk Encryption agents in these environments.

Note:

This procedure can only upgrade Full Disk Encryption agents that have earlier versions of Full Disk Encryption than the Full Disk Encryption version on the Endpoint Encryption Deployment Tool. To see the Full Disk Encryption version on the plug-in program, go to Administration > About.

  1. On the OfficeScan server endpoint, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\Addon\TMEE\bin\.
  2. Open the file TBConfig.ini in a text editor as an administrator.
  3. Locate the following text:
    [INI_UPDATE_SETTING]
    Tool_Upgrade_Cleint_Side_Force = 0
  4. Change Tool_Upgrade_Cleint_Side_Force = 0 to Tool_Upgrade_Cleint_Side_Force = 1.
    Note:

    If the value for Tool_Upgrade_Cleint_Side_Force is already 1, and you still encountered this issue, contact Trend Micro Support.

  5. Restart the Windows services "Trend Micro Endpoint Encryption Deployment Tool Service" and "OfficeScan Plug-in Manager".
  6. From the Endpoint Encryption Deployment Tool, upgrade the Full Disk Encryption agent again.
